It's not just a "teenage thing to do." Anita Rani, from BBC, finds two men over 35 who are both deeply involved with thier virtual girlfriend. Her documentary No Sex Please, We're Japanese introduces us to Japan's culture and fascination with anime and manga.
Sarah Eberspacher wrote an article called Everything You Need to Know About Japan's Population Crisis where she also sees these virtual relationships as a factor to the crisis.
